What to say when you call
Emergency operators in Suriname answer in Dutch and usually in English. Keep the call short and lead with where you are.
- Say where you are first — the district, the river, the nearest landmark.
- Say what happened and how many people are hurt.
- Stay on the line until the operator says you can hang up.
- If you are cut off, call again rather than waiting to be called back.
